Building Information Modeling - BIM

We are hearing so much in the past years of the importance of the technology in every aspect. And this is not by a coincidence. Some people had an idea about this long time ago, but today their predictions became reality. Today, the United Kingdom Construction Industry stands proudly over a cup of the new time, the age of digital design, also known as BID- a Building Information Modeling.

According to the Government of the UK, BIM refers to a value creating collaboration that is found along the whole life circle of the assets, underpinned by collocation, creation and the exchange of the modern 3D models, adding intelligent and structured data information into them. Simply said, it is a sociotechnical process that lies on a supportive technological base, linked with social components from the surrounding.

Implementing the Building Information Modeling is actually a great thing for all the investors since due to the capability of the governmental departments to electronically validate the BIM information; thousands of pounds will be saved.

According to Paschal Walsh, the commercial director of Systech International, BIM is offering many benefits to the contractors such as providing working from the same data, the possibility to evaluate the proposals, the 3D modeling that helps to eliminate the errors, the improvement of the assets management and others. But, as anywhere, when introducing a new protocol there probably will flow up some problems. Here as problems are showing up the lack of the compatible systems, protocol, and standards since there are different requirements for the employers, contractors and the designers. That is the reason of introducing the BIM Level 2 that requires a managed 3D environment to be held in separate digital tools, along with data attached in a common file. The documents needed for this protocol are nine, from which as the most importance is the CIC BIM protocol, who is actually a legal agreement, who is creating additional duties, obligations and rights for the employer, contractor, and the designer. Due to the issues that are flowing from the implementation of BIM, the Government has set a final date for developing a BIM 3, that should have the capability to electronically validate the information from the protocol and help to save assets and unnecessary costs and most importantly, allow the UK to maintain the world’s leadership position in digital construction.

Systech International appoints new Regional Director for South East Asia

Luke Walker will take up residency in our Singapore office as the new Regional Director
for South East Asia on 1 January 2016, replacing Kevin Timmons, who will be relocating to
Systech’s London office.

Luke has been based in Doha over the last 6 months, where he has helped Simon
Berry look after our existing clients and develop new business. Luke has over 25 years
experience in the construction industry during which time he has been involved in a
range of major international infrastructure projects in the UK, Middle East, China and
South East Asia. He is an expert in claims production, dispute resolution, commercial/
contract administration and cost management of MEP, special systems and civil
construction works.

Kevin opened the Singapore office for Systech in 1997. Then, after a period running
his own successful consultancy, he re-joined us in Singapore in 2013. After 18 years
in Singapore, Kevin is looking forward to returning to UK with his young family and
re-joining the London team with whom he worked from 1992 to 1997. After helping Luke
settle into his new role, Kevin will be supporting the Doha office before taking up his new
role at Chapter House in early summer 2016.

I love writing for people who made some great things in their life, achieved success due to their consistency, and will. Lastly, I read and learn a lot is Stephen Rayment, an amazing personality, one of the leaders of Systech International. 

Before I tell you more about Stephen, let me first get to know you with his company. Systech International is a company that operates over twenty years in a field of energy projects, construction and infrastructure. As a company, they are operating like a global provider of project controls, commercial management, planning and scheduling, expert witness, claims, dispute resolution as well as visualization services. With a team of highly skilled consultants and professionals in their areas, Systech International is known as a company that care about project risks, tight costs and control in each project she takes. 

However, without the smart brains he has, Systech International would not be a company as it is. In addition, he has the smartest.  As a co-founders and Group Managing Directors are Stephen Rayment and Mark WoodwardSmith, both inspirational people who have many successes in life. They are people I admire and respect a lot. Ever since 1991, they are building a company that never stopped to improve the work and methods and successfully compete with the rest of the world. 

Stephen Rayment is a Group managing Director, responsible for the Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa, as well as America’s areas. The greatness I saw in this man comes from the capability of managing he has. He is responsible for the policy matters and all the strategic plans the company have.  His strong personality, knowledge and responsibility made his company a leading global construction consultancy that has a reputation as a company where you will get high quality, low costs and really, really well-managed services. As Rayment Stephen said many times, reputation is a sign of success, so the reputation his company have said much about him as well.  

But, nothing in life comes easily. For Stephen, there were many obstacles that he needed to go trough, so he can become what is today. He had to pass through numerous frauds that had been imposed and for which he needed time to clear his and the face of the company. It was not easy, but his perseverance was pay off. The 70s and 80s he spends on developing on expertise on construction projects as a major commercial property developer and project manager to the specialization he has in preparation of dispute resolution and contractual claims. The desire for success, the continuous setting of new life goals and knowledge are the reason for the steady progress of Stephen Rayment. Starting from 1994, he is leading his company in a global world, broadening its business on several continents. Opening branches in the Asian Pacific region, and then expanding to Singapore and Hong Kong, the success of Stephen does not stop here. The business continues to focus on the Middle East and US markets, and offices in Australia, Korea, Abu Dhabi and many other countries. He adds his business strength and power due to the addition of key services through the acquisition by Systech Solicitors, making its customers a unique combination of services, all under a single brand. 

Despite the many commitments he has for his company, he is also a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and a member of the Institute of Arbitrators.
